West Cork landscape

Itinerary:

Day 1: Friday 15th Sept
Arrange to arrive at our accommodation in the early or mid afternoon. We will have an evening session of photography while getting to know one another and then enjoy an evening meal locally.

Days 2, 3 and 4: 
Mike prefers not to have a rigid itinerary for these days except to make the most of the weather conditions available. Mike will make a call each evening of what we will do for the following day. Some days will involve a pre-breakfast shoot to get the early morning light and then we would take a break during the day before an evening shoot. Otherwise we will be out an about for the full day if the weather is more suitable for daytime photography. We will get plenty of photographic opportunities during these days but we will not physically kill you either! We will try to give you a chance to look around local towns and villages in the locality. We will also find some time during these days and evenings to look at digital processing using Photoshop and look at images from participants who wish to get critique and appraisal on their previous work.
Sunday night is included and I offer to do a final early session on Monday morning before packing up and heading away just before midday. If anyone has to head home late on Sunday night for work Monday morning that is fine.

Location:
The holiday will be based near the beautiful town of Clonakilty in West Cork.
This area is renowned for its beautiful and rugged coastal landscapes and scenery. It is packed full of photo opportunities with superb locations within a short drive minutes from the Hotel.

What you get:
Accommodation and Food:
Participants will be staying in a Hotel. All accommodation AND food is included for the weekend!! All rooms will be single occupancy unless you wish to book a double room for a couple.
On most nights we will eat in the hotel or a local restaurant or pub close to where we end up after our evening photography sessions [or before the sunset session] – these are all included except for alcoholic drinks!.
Lunch we will get – “on the hoof” wherever we find ourselves.

ALL TRANSPORTATION will be provided for the weekend AFTER you have arrived to the hotel on the Thursday. Collection from Cork city can be available on the Thursday [and return on Monday] by arrangement.
Expert guidance and tuition from Mike during the whole weekend.

What is not included:
International and National travel to and from the West Cork location. Collection from Cork city [Airport/Train Bus] can be available on the Thursday [and return on Monday] by arrangement.
Holiday insurance – Guests are asked to purchase their own travel insurance for the trip. Mike is fully covered for public liability.

Who these workshops are designed for:
Our photo holidays are for all levels of SLR photographer. Whether you are just starting with digital SRL photography or are an experienced photographer there will be something for you. All the photo opportunities will offer all levels of photographer a challenge and a chance to make interesting and beautiful images. Mike will always be on hand to assist or teach and can do some 1-to-1 with guests during the quieter moments of the weekend and at locations. With over 20 years experience as a professional photographer and extensive teaching experience Mike can answer most questions in an easy to understand manner. While most digital users [and Mike] will shoot Raw format image there is no problem if you wish to shoot jpegs and Mike will assist you in making the most of either format. We will do some digital photo processing during the holiday to get the best from our images.
These holidays are also perfect for traditional film users. Mike still shoots film for some projects and has years of experience of photographing with both colour transparency and black and white films.

Equipment:
A digital[or film] SLR or Mirrorless camera and whatever lenses you have available. Wide angles to short telephotos should suffice for most subject matter. If in doubt call or email us. Mike will send you a detailed email after you book giving you a full description of equipment likely to be needed and what might be available to borrow.
Filters: Filters [mainly Graduated] can be essential at times to get the best out of Landscape photography. Mike can give advice on what filters you might need or what to purchase before the Workshop.
A tripod is essential but we may have one you can borrow for the holiday – please ask as some may be available from Mike by prior arrangement.
